Definitely a more low key place. Parking lot isn't too big but should be fine. I think people were calling in their orders. There were quite a few people on a weekday night. Probably a 15-20 min wait after placing orders. You could eat there but it's very limited seating against the window. More of a carry out place. Got the smothered pork chops. Comes with 2 sides: did Mac and cheese and cole slaw. Also comes with 3 hush puppies. It's a biggg portion for sure and made it into 2 meals. The menu says $12.99 but They added an extra $1 for smothered? Not sure on that... the Mac and cheese was not that good though. Looks like I got the bottom of the pan part. Cole slaw was decent. Pork chop itself had good flavor. Might be the first time that I had smothered pork chops... Would come back again and try some other things.

Quick tip: call in your order during popular lunch or dinner times especially since there's not much parking or room to wait inside. Jack's has always been one of my Raleigh favorites. I love so many of their menu items and honestly have never had a bad meal. They have many a couple of changes like there's an increase in cost when you pay with card instead of cash and they charge for refills. With the increase in supplies and food cost I'm not surprised by these changes. When it comes to real soul food Jacks will always be my go to. Their sides are flavorful and they don't use pork to season them.

I've been eating at Jacks since I was a kid and decades later this place still hits. If you're in the area visiting or just never been you need to go! I'll give you a warning, the wait can take while sometimes 30 minutes or more. So if you can, definitely order ahead of time! If not no worries it'll be worth the wait. The Mac and cheese, yams, and turnips were all fire! The catfish as well was on point. It was the perfect meal before attending round 2 of dreamville. You know food is good when you only have half and later that day when the hunger hits, all you can think about is getting back home to have the other half! Or maybe that's just me. Anyways go check them out!

I wanted good fried seafood and was looking for a decent option, it's been years since I've been to Jacks. I ordered online and then my son and I went to pick it up. The online option is easy but it does not offer all the options you can get if you call in or go in and order, so I will probably call going forward since it lacks combo plates and shrimp plates. What we got was very good, both the chicken and the fish and sides. The one thing That was a disappointment was the collards they were boiled till their crispness was gone. I went around 5:30 on a Monday and parking was easy. The gentleman in side was very nice and friendly. It was a good take out experience.
